Privacy Department | Senior Privacy Specialist
Division: Corporate Affairs
Reports to: Head of Privacy (Data Protection Officer)
Location: CelcomDigi Tower
Role Overview
As CelcomDigi evolves into a tech-telco, the Privacy Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the company’s data privacy practices remain robust, agile, and future-ready. This role supports the implementation and monitoring of privacy frameworks, drives compliance with local and global applicable data protection laws, and enables privacy-by-design across digital products, platforms, and services.
Responsibilities
Project Management
- Lead and coordinate privacy-related projects, ensuring timely delivery, stakeholder alignment, and effective resource management.
Privacy Expertise & Advisory
- Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) in data privacy and personal data protection across business units, including digital, cloud, AI, and platform services.
- Provide strategic and operational guidance on privacy risks in emerging technologies and digital transformation initiatives.
Governance & Framework Implementation
- Implement, monitor, enhance and provide timely reports to all relevant stakeholders on the company-wide Data Privacy Control Framework.
- Ensure alignment with evolving regulatory requirements and internal governance standards, includes reviewing and updating policies and procedures.
Regulatory Intelligence & Research
- Monitor and analyze developments in global and local data protection laws, including tech-sector specific regulations.
- Translate regulatory changes into actionable insights and updates for internal stakeholders.
Training & Awareness
- Design and deliver targeted privacy training programs for respective business functions to build internal capabilities in collaboration with the HR Learning team or external partners and foster a culture of privacy awareness.
- Support digital teams in embedding privacy-by-design principles into product development.
Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration
- Collaborate with cross-functional departments such as Legal, Cybersecurity, IT, and Customer Experience to ensure all privacy compliance requirements are consistently met across the organization in an integrated and coordinated manner.
- Maintain strong relationships with external regulators, industry bodies, and strategic partners.
Operational Support & Incident Response
- Support privacy impact assessments (PIAs), data breach investigations, and remediation efforts.
- Contribute to audits, risk assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements
Requirements
Education & Certification
- Degree in Law, Information Security, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Professional certifications such as CIPP, CIPM, or equivalent are highly desirable.
Experience & Skills
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience in data privacy, preferably within Tech, Telco, or regulated industries E.g. Utilities, Banking, Aviation.
- Proven experience in privacy compliance, policy development, strategic planning, and project execution.
- Strong understanding of global and local data protection laws E.g. PDPA, GDPR, etc.
Digital & Analytical Competence
- Ability to assess privacy risks in digital products, platforms, and services.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to simplify complex privacy issues into practical, business-friendly solutions.
Communication & Collaboration
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Comfortable working in fast-paced, cross-functional environments.
Mindset & Adaptability
- Proactive, solutions-oriented, and resilient in navigating ambiguity.
- Able to thrive in a dynamic tech-telco environment and contribute to innovation while safeguarding privacy.
