Technical Accounting Specialist
Job Description
Manage technical accounting matters by researching and interpreting accounting standards, preparing accounting papers, and assisting in the development of accounting policies. Work on financial reporting compliance, audit activities, and stakeholder collaboration while contributing to process improvements to strengthen accounting governance and reporting quality.
Responsibilities
Entity Financial Reporting Support
- Work on preparing financial reports to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
- Contribute to the delivery of key reporting outputs, including:
- Management reports
- Quarterly financial announcements
- Board and Audit Committee papers
- Statutory financial statements
- Regulatory and statistical submissions (e.g. MCMC reporting)
- Coordinate with finance teams across the group to collect, validate, and analyse financial data.
- Track reporting timelines and ensure deliverables are met.
Technical Accounting Support
- Research and interpret accounting standards (IFRS/MFRS/MASB) and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare technical accounting papers and documentation for review.
- Provide day-to-day technical accounting support to finance teams across the group.
- Monitor updates to accounting standards and assessing potential impact.
Audit & Compliance Coordination
- Coordinate annual statutory audits and regulatory audits across the group.
- Prepare audit schedules, supporting documents, and respond to auditor queries.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with:
- IFRS/MFRS/MASB standards
- Companies Act 2016
- Bursa Listing Requirements
Policy Implementation & Process Support
- Assist in implementing group accounting policies, procedures, and reporting guidelines.
- Support standardisation of accounting treatments across the group.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives to enhance reporting efficiency and quality.
Stakeholder Coordination & Team Support
- Act as a key liaison with internal finance teams, auditors, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth information flow.
- Support senior management in preparing analysis, reports, and presentation materials.
Requirements

Qualifications & Experience
-
Professional qualification (ACCA, ACA, CPA or equivalent).

Minimum 6 years of relevant experience in financial accounting and reporting, including at least 3 years in audit.

Exposure to a listed company environment or group reporting structure is preferred.

Technical Competencies
-
Good working knowledge of IFRS/MFRS/MASB standards, Companies Act 2016, and Bursa Malaysia Listing Requirements.

Able to perform financial analysis and variance analysis, and prepare management and financial reports.

Experience in supporting technical accounting assessments and preparing accounting documentation is an advantage.
